Charlottesville Area Transit promotes City as a Canvas

Contributors

charlottesville trolleyIn collaboration with the Tom Tom Founders Festival, Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT) has decided to keep one of its retired buses in service a bit longer.

The fourteen-year-old bus received a facelift late last month as resident artist, Mickael Broth used a few cans of spray paint to liven up the exterior. The bus is only one of many projects planned for the Tom Tom Founders Festival’s “City as a Canvas” theme.

Starting today, the bus will make its rounds between the Downtown Mall and UVA while operating on the Free Trolley line.  After boarding, passengers will be greeted by colorful posters showcasing winners from CAT’s 2013 Bus Lines Poetry contest.

The bus will remain on the road until the end of May.  During that time, the bus will host the Poetry on the Trolley event (4/18), where local poets will recite their work as the bus motors along its route.  The bus will also make an appearance at the Belmont Block Party scheduled for April 19th.

The Free Trolley Route is free to ride.  Passengers can use the line to travel between Downtown and UVA.
