The Big South Conference announced its 2014 football schedule on ESPN3 today, and this year’s “Game of the Week” package features eight consecutive contests — seven of them between Conference members. Each will also utilize instant replay technology again this season per the Big South’s partnership with DVSport.
ESPN3, ESPN’s live multi-screen sports network, will originate coverage from each of the six Big South football members this fall. The slate includes one out-of-Conference match-up — the second-straight year an exclusive non-League home contest will receive national exposure — as well as the first Big South game from the state of New Jersey.
The Big South’s exclusive “Game of the Week” package begins Oct. 4 with Gardner-Webb hosting Charlotte live at 1:30pm from Boiling Springs, N.C. The first intra-Conference game on ESPN3 will be next week on Oct. 11 (Coastal Carolina at Presbyterian). On Nov. 1, new associate football member Monmouth will have its first home Big South game carried when the Hawks host Charleston Southern. The schedule concludes with the highly-anticipated Nov. 22 season finale between Liberty and Coastal Carolina. Mike Hogewood and Mike Gleason will handle play-by-play duties of the Big South’s ESPN3 package.
Meanwhile, two 2014 season-opening games involving the Big South will also receive coverage. On Thursday night, Aug. 28, Presbyterian’s contest at Northern Illinois will be carried on ESPN3 at 7:00pm. Two nights later, Liberty’s opener at North Carolina will also be available on ESPN3 at 6:00pm.
ESPN3 is a destination that delivers thousands of global sports events annually and accessible online via WatchESPN.com, on smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app and streamed on televisions through Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. It is currently available to more than 92 million homes at no additional cost to fans who receive their high-speed Internet connection or video subscription from an affiliated service provider. The network is also available at no cost to approximately 21 million U.S. college students and U.S.-based military personnel via computers, smartphones and tablets connected to on-campus educational and on-base military broadband and Wi-Fi networks.
Additional Big South games are slated for television this season and will be announced at a later date.
