“Our goal is to develop a completely new medical service for the community, focusing on occupational health. Occupational health is a special branch of medicine with emphasis on health in the workplace—it’s concerned with the physical and mental well-being of employees,” explains Dr. Krieger.

“We can advise employers on work-related illnesses and accidents, provide medical exams for new and existing employees, and monitor the health of employees.  Ultimately, we want to help ensure that employers can maintain a safe and healthy work environment while providing workers with quality medical treatments and prevention of workplace injuries and illnesses.  This will help improve the workers’ health and productivity.”

Layne, a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, went to medical school at the Medical College of Virginia at VCU.  He completed his internal medicine residency at the Eastern Virginia Medical School.

Dr. Layne has participated in several research projects and has been a teaching sssistant at the VCU and a mentor in medicine for Southside Virginia Community College.
