Commonwealth’s Attorney Tim Martin has named Alexandra Meador and Lorna Port as the new Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorneys for Augusta County.
Both Meador and Port were serving the office as Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorneys prior to their promotion, which was effective Nov. 1.
“I’m so proud to welcome Alex and Lorna into these positions. They are the two longest serving assistants here under my tenure, and they bring a lot of talent, energy and relevant experience to their new roles. Both Alex and Lorna had careers prior to entering the legal profession, and the skills and talents they possess are complimentary. I know that each of them will do a fantastic job for the office and the citizens of Augusta County,” said Martin.
Meador joined the Augusta County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office in 2015. She prosecutes a range of felonies and misdemeanors, and has developed specialized skills in the prosecution of violent crime (including murder, felony assault, and rape), child sexual abuse, child neglect and physical abuse, and cases involving the abuse, neglect and exploitation of the elderly and persons with special needs.
Prior to joining the office, she served as a law clerk for Chief Justice Donald W. Lemons of the Supreme Court of Virginia.
Meador is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law (J.D. 2014) and James Madison University (B.A. 2007). Between college and law school, Meador worked for four years as the youth programs director of a grassroots non-profit organization on Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation in South Dakota.
Meador is a member of the Augusta/Staunton/Waynesboro Multidisciplinary Taskforce for Child Abuse and the Blue Ridge Criminal Justice Board’s Juvenile Justice Committee. She provides domestic violence training to local law enforcement officers and has served as a Judicial Proceedings Content Instructor in local area Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner training.
Meador has completed specialized training in a variety of areas, including forensic interviewing, sexual assault nurse examinations, strangulation, adult non-stranger sexual assault, domestic violence, juvenile court practice and procedure, child abuse, economic crimes, and DUIs.

Port joined the Augusta County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office in 2016 after serving as a magistrate in Henrico and Prince George counties. She is a graduate of the Washington & Lee University School of Law, Hofstra University, and the Defense Language Institute.
Before pursuing a career in law, Port was an intelligence analyst in the United States Army, where she served in the Republic of Korea and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Although she was born and raised in Northern California, Virginia has been her home since 2010.
Port specializes in the prosecution of sex crimes, animal control cases, and drug-related offenses.
“I’m deeply appreciative for the opportunity to serve the county in this new role,” said Port. “I’m looking forward to working alongside Alex in our new positions to continue to pursue excellence in the service we provide Augusta County citizens and to build upon the great relationship our office has developed with our law enforcement agencies.”
