Albemarle County is seeking input on its planned Three Notched Trail, asking residents, businesses and visitors to the area to weigh in on route options through an online survey.

The multi-use path is expected to span approximately 24 miles, and will connect Charlottesville, Crozet, Albemarle County and Nelson County. The goal is to eventually link this trail to the Rockfish Gateway Trail in Waynesboro that is also in early planning stages.

When completed, Three Notched Trail will provide a safe, car-free route and support both recreation and tourism in the region. The planning process is estimated to take 24 months.

Once the route is selected, preliminary plans will be developed for priority segments of the trail.

The Rockfish Gateway Trail will connect Waynesboro to the Shenandoah National Park and the Appalachian Trail. The city received a $950,000 grant for preliminary engineering activities.
