Extended run pushes VCU past Samford, 83-57, to push Rams to 6-3 mark

Terrence Hill Jr. scored 22 points off the bench to lead VCU to an 83-57 win over Samford on Friday night in Richmond.

Hill was 8-of-14 from the floor and 5-of-9 from three in 25 minutes for the Rams (6-3).

Jadrian Tracey had 10 points and 13 rebounds to record his first-ever double-double.

Two other double-doubles: Barry Evans (10 points, 10 rebounds, six assists), Keyshawn Mitchell (10 points, 11 rebounds).

Dylan Faulkner led Samford (4-6) with 22 points and nine rebounds.

The Rams trailed by as many as seven in the first half, but closed the opening 20 minutes on a 12-2 run to go into the break up three, 34-31, then outscored Samford 22-6 in the opening  7:14 of the second half to put distance between the two.

Up next: VCU will host New Mexico (6-2) on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. The contest will air on MASN and ESPN+.
