Richmond Police make two arrests in Jan. 27 murder on St. James Street

Richmond Police have made two arrests in the homicide that occurred in January on St. James Street.

Detectives arrested Trayrell Tolliver, 27, of Richmond, and Darius Burgess, 23, of Petersburg, in connection with the Jan. 27 murder of Toney Garrett, 23, of Richmond.

Both have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Additional charges are pending.

The shooting was reported to police at 5:05 p.m. on Jan. 27. Officers were called to the 1000 block of St. James Street for the report of shooting, and upon arrival located Garrett down and unresponsive on the grass between buildings.

Toney had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
