Man arrested for prostitution, human trafficking operation in Rockbridge, Roanoke

A Virginia man was arrested Monday on human trafficking charges for operations in the Roanoke Valley and Rockbridge County communities.

Earl Wayne Smith, 67, of Rockbridge County, was charged with prostitution, transportation for prostitution, keeping or residing a bawdy place and human trafficking, according to Virginia State Police.

Smith was charged after a lengthy investigation which uncovered an extensive operation. Evidence of the charges were seized from several locations controlled by Smith including his residence. Items seized include physical evidence of the charges, narcotics and firearms.

VSP is continuing to follow-up on leads and interview witnesses involved in this investigation.
