A story that we’d been watching from afar, about a 2-year-old who went missing Thursday night in Cumberland County, had a welcome happy ending.

Bridget Maeve Zeigler, 2, was located alive in the woods off of Anderson Highway at 1:30 p.m. Friday afternoon, according to a report from Virginia State Police.

The toddler has been reunited with her parents, and appears to be in good health.

We were first clued in by a release from the VSP earlier today, which told media agencies across the Commonwealth that Zeigler was believed to have walked away from her home at 6:04 p.m. Thursday evening.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, VSP, the FBI, the Virginia Department of Emergency Management and additional law enforcement law enforcement agencies and fire and rescue agencies were involved in the search.
