Pulitzer Prize finalist to give talk at Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library

Pulitzer Prize finalist Patricia O’Toole will give a talk at the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library as part of her book tour for her latest publication The Moralist: Woodrow Wilson and the World He Made (Simon & Schuster; April 24, 2018).

The talk will take place on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at 7:00 pm in the Library and Research Center on 235 East Beverley Street in Staunton. It will be open to the public with free admission.

After the event, O’Toole will be available to sign books where The Moralist will also be available for purchase.

In The Moralist O’Toole measures Wilson by his own standards of morality. She revisits the presidency as it was a century ago and rethinks many of the standard interpretations of Woodrow Wilson and his legacy.  The result is an emotionally discerning, richly detailed portrait of a president whose ideas and actions had a profound and lasting effect on the United States and the world.  Part of her research for the book on Wilson took place at the Library & Museum’s archives.

About the Author

Patricia O’Toole is the author of five books, including The Moralist: Woodrow Wilson and the World He Made, When Trumpets Call: Theodore Roosevelt after the White House, and The Five of Hearts: An Intimate Portrait of Henry Adams and His Friends, which was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Critics Circle Award, and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. A former professor in the School of the Arts at Columbia University and a fellow of the Society of American Historians, she lives in Camden, Maine.

The Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library & Museum is located at 20 N. Coalter Street in Staunton and includes Wilson’s birthplace, a museum, gardens, and a library and archive.
