The City of Staunton has a new public works director, Brennan Duncan, who will be joining the city government staff on Oct. 19, after an 11-year tenure with the City of Charlottesville, where he has most recently served as city engineer.
Duncan began his career in 2001 working for a local engineering firm while earning his bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University. In 2013, he transitioned to the public sector, serving as capital improvement plan manager for the City of Suffolk in Virginia, before moving in 2015 to work with Charlottesville city government, where his jobs included assistant city engineer, traffic engineer, and ultimately taking on the city engineer job.
“I appreciate the trust placed in me with this appointment. My focus will be on practical, effective solutions that support the city’s long-term goals and meet the everyday needs of the people who call this community home,” said Duncan, a father of five, whose youngest is a senior at Albemarle High School.
“Our public works operations touch the daily lives of everyone in our city, and I’m committed to strengthening our partnerships with residents, businesses, and regional stakeholders. Together, we can build solutions that improve quality of life and enhance the resilience of our infrastructure,” Duncan said.
