New Dominion Bookshop hosting authors Mary Alice Hostetter, BettyJoyce Nash

Authors Mary Alice Hostetter and BettyJoyce Nash are doing a joint appearance at New Dominion Bookshop in Charlottesville on Friday, Nov. 13.

A reading and Q&A are scheduled that night to begin at 7 p.m.

Hostetter will be reading from her new short story collection, There’s No Way to Know, and Nash will be reading from her new short story collection, Never Mind Your Good Reasons.

The event is cosponsored by WriterHouse and will be free to attend and open to the public.

The bookshop recommends arriving early for the best seating.

Mary Alice Hostetter is the author of Plain: A Memoir of Mennonite Girlhood. She has had work published in The New York Times (Modern Love column), The Gettysburg Review, Appalachian Review and HuffPost, among others.

There’s No Way to Know is her debut work of fiction.

She lives and writes in Charlottesville.

BettyJoyce Nash was a potter in Chicago until 1988, when she earned an master’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill Journalism School. She moved to North Carolina and reported daily news; later, she wrote economics articles for the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond and joined the Charlottesville Writing Center, even while living in Richmond. She moved to Charlottesville in 2013, where she became more involved with the organization we now know as WriterHouse.
