staunton virginiaAugusta County Sheriff’s deputies pursued a vehicle into Staunton Wednesday morning, and the vehicle crashed into a residence on the 100-block of Thomas Street, causing damage to the home.

The driver, Barry Wayne Booth, 35, of Harrisonburg, fled on foot and was not located at that time. Responding Staunton officers located this vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop on Morris Mill Road. The male fled from Staunton Police and led officers on a pursuit for approximately 20 minutes before crashing near Boy Scout Lane in Swoope.

Booth was arrested near the scene of this crash and charged with carjacking, breaking and entering with the intent to commit a felony, felony hit and run, felony eluding law enforcement, and driving on a revoked/DUI related driver’s license.
