Richard Adams Variety Show has it all!
Richard Adams has packed his February Variety Show with talent. New to the Gateway audience will be the bluegrass band Bourbon Barrel Congress, whistling sensation Den Frumen and 10 year-old flat foot dance Nathan Aitcheson. Joining them will be the King of Rock ‘n Roll. The Richard Adams Variety Show is on Friday, February 8 at 7:30 pm. The performance is at WTA’s Gateway, 329 West Main in downtown Waynesboro.
Bourbon Barrell Congress was discovered by Adams on one of his many forays into the area’s music scene. The recently formed bluegrass band describes its music as “Americana”, a combination of oldtime, country, bluegrass and folk. “I’ve been looking for a good bluegrass band for the show since we started in September of 2011. I finally found it,” said Richard Adams. The band features Chris Davis, Rene DeVito, Michael Emerson, Ethan Hawkins, and John Spangler. “All these guys are great musicians,” says Adams, “and they’ll have the house clapping and stomping their feet.”
Den Furmen is what Adams calls “a whistling sensation.” He combines his talent as a songwriter and guitarist with his unique skill as a whistler to create a new musical treat. He will be joined by another newcomer, Nathan Aitcheson who will debut what Adams calls “his dazzling flat-foot dancing abilities.”
Bob Lunger, the Valley’s incarnation of Elvis, returns to RAVS with some of the Kings trademark songs. He will also join Adams in their famous (or infamous) Cooking with Elvis segments. This time the King will demonstrate how to make one of his favorite Valentine Treats. It promises to be more exciting than the King’s corpulent sandwich.
Completing the evening will be the audience participation routines–”You Can Be on a Talk Show” and “You Can Be the Weather Guy”.
Bill Martin, candidate for the Coffee Party, will cohost and reveal plans for this Dooms Day event for 2013.
The Richard Adams Variety Show is at 7:30 at WTA’s Gateway. Doors open at 7 pm. Tickets are $9.99 in advance and $12 on the day of performance. They may be purchased online at www.wtagateway or by calling the box office 540-943-9999. Remaining tickets will be available on the night of performance.
