A new Public Policy Polling survey released on Monday has former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney leading the potential 2012 Republican Party presidential nomination field.

Romney was at 33 percent nationally in the PPP poll, with former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee in second at 27 percent and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin at 23 percent.

State-by-state polling done by the polling firm has Huckabee strong in the South and Romney ahead basically everywhere else.

Palin is the most well-liked of the GOP front runners with 66 percent viewing her favorably to 55 percent for Huckabee and 54 percent for Romney, but there’s a disconnect between how much voters like Palin and how willing they are to support her for president.

More analysis is available on the Public Policy Polling blog.
