Augusta Health’s cafeteria will undergo a major renovation beginning May 10. The cafeteria is expected to reopen in September. While the renovations are in process, temporary serving areas and alternate dining locations will be available on the hospital campus.
Meal service in the cafeteria will end after dinner on Thursday, May 9. The temporary locations will open Friday, May 10 and operate until the cafeteria reopens. Jazzman’s Bakery and Café and Lifetime Café are ongoing locations that can also provide dining alternatives for those visiting Augusta Health.
Alternate dining locations are:
The first floor lobby of the Medical Office Building, in the area previously occupied by the Pharmacy. This location will be open from 6 am until 7 pm daily and will have a modified menu: daily hot entrée, starch and vegetable; limited grill sandwich options; deli sandwiches and salad bar. Packaged sandwiches, salads and parfaits will also be available.
The Atrium Lobby (main entrance) Gift Shop. This location, with assistance from the Auxiliary Board, will be open from 8:30 am until 9 pm, Monday through Friday, beginning Monday, May 13. It will serve limited grill options, soup, and packaged sandwiches, salads and parfaits.
Jazzman’s Bakery and Café in the Heart & Vascular Center lobby will be open from 6 am until 4 pm, Monday through Friday. Its menu includes specialty coffees, fruit smoothies, baked desserts and packaged sandwiches and salads.
Lifetime Fitness Café in the Lifetime Fitness Center is open from 6:30 am until 4 pm, Monday through Friday. Its menu includes made-to-order sandwiches and salads, as well as smoothies, coffees and bottled drinks.
“We recognize that the cafeteria renovation will create a temporary inconvenience for our customers, but in the end, we will have a significantly improved cafeteria the will meet the needs of the hospital and community in a better way,” says Zeph Putnam, Dietary Director at Augusta Health.

Vanessa Pogreba/Hearing Healthcare of Virginia: “As our business grew we noticed our website was not keeping pace with our needs. It also felt out of date and not appealing. We were also not seeing the web traffic we would expect even taking into consideration our clienteles average age. We had our industry’s “GURUs” working on it for over a year and their determination was our area just was not going to produce the results.
Chris Richmond/Fishburne Military School: “Chris and Crystal have been truly wonderful to work with. Their commitment to their clients, their expertise in the field and their common sense approach to marketing, advertising and communications made them an ideal fit for our needs. They didn’t try to dazzle us with a string of ad buzz words or hyperbole. They met with us, got to know our needs, learned everything they could about our organization and then set to work helping us promote our school.”
Tyler Hoffman, General Manager/Waynesboro Generals: "Chris and Crystal at Augusta Free Press have been a pleasure to work with and have made our website into not only the best in the Valley Baseball League, but arguably the best in all of summer collegiate baseball ..."
