Generals make it four of five with win at Harrisonburg

Waynesboro righthander Devin Smith (Concord) stymied Harrisonburg for seven innings, limiting the Turks to one run on four hits, while fanning eight and walking none in a 7-2 road win for the Generals.

The Generals banged out 14 hits in support of Smith’s efforts, including six for extra bases.  Julian Ridings (Western Carolina)  3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Austin Johnston (Central Florida) 3-for-4 with a double.

Smith improves to 2-0 on the 2012 season with the win. Waynesboro has won four of five to improve to 5-3.

The Turks’ win streak was snapped at five games, dropping them to 7-2 overall.

Waynesboro returns home Monday night for a game against Augusta County rival Staunton. First pitch is at 7 p.m.
