Tech, JMU, UVa. players land in NFL

Virginia Tech sent an ACC-high five players to the NFL in the 2010 NFL Draft over the weekend. James Madison sent two players, and UVa. one.

The UVa. player, cornerback Chris Cook, was taken with the second selection in the second round, going 34th overall to the Minnesota Vikings.

Virginia Tech linebacker Jason Worilds was taken later in the second round with the 52nd pick overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Other Hokies selected in the draft were safety Kam Chancellor (fifth round, no. 133, Seattle), offensive lineman Ed Wang (fifth round, no. 140, Buffalo), punter Brent Bowden (sixth round, no. 172, Tampa Bay) and safety Cody Grimm (seventh round, no. 210, Tampa Bay).

JMU’s selections were defensive end Arthur Moats (sixth round, no. 178, Buffalo) and cornerback/return specialist Scotty McGee (sixth round, no. 203, Jacksonville).
