The Staunton district is comprised of 11 counties, Alleghany, Bath, Rockbridge, Augusta, Highland, Rockingham, Shenandoah, Frederick, Page, Warren and Clarke. Work scheduled is subject to change due to inclement weather and material supplies. Motorists are advised to watch for slow-moving tractors during mowing operations. No. 10 Johns Hopkins (6-2) scored nine goals in a row to pace the Blue Jays’ 15-8 triumph over the No. 10 Virginia Cavaliers (5-4) on Saturday afternoon, inside M&T Bank Stadium. Not only did the Blue Jays win the Konica Minolta Face-Off Classic, but also won the quest for the Doyle Smith Cup for the third year in a row. From 2006-10, Virginia won the first five meetings the cup was awarded to the regular season winner of the UVa and Johns Hopkins series. The Blue Jays current streak began in 2011.
Senate narrowly passes budget resolution

By one vote, the United States Senate was able to pass its first budget in four years. The 50-49 vote includes $1 trillion in new revenue by closing some tax loopholes on the wealthy. The passage is largely symbolic, since the vote was for a non-binding resolution that will no doubt clash with the budget resolution to be passed by the Republican-majority House of Representatives.
Bach’s gem leads VMI to 1-0 win over Longwood

Connor Bach and John Garrett combined on a four-hit shutout, leading the VMI Keydets to a 1-0 win over the Longwood Lancers in Big South baseball action Friday at Bolding Stadium. The win runs VMI’s (10-14, 2-2 Big South) win streak to four consecutive games, and marks the first 1-0 Keydet victory since April 2, 1988.
