McDonnell announces opening of agricultural trade office in Europe

Gov. Bob McDonnell announced Thursday the formal opening of a representative office in Europe focused on increasing agricultural and forestry product exports to the region. With the opening, the Commonwealth is believed to be the only state in the U.S. to currently have a dedicated agricultural trade representative in the European market, one of the world’s largest economic regions. Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry Todd Haymore attended the opening ceremony on behalf of the governor.

Foundation hosts bowling fundraiser with an elegant twist

The Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center Foundation will host its second annual Bubbles & Bowling fundraiser on Friday, June 21, 2013, from 7:30-10 p.m. at Staunton Bowling Lanes, 831 Greenville Ave., Staunton. This event will raise funds to support job training and medical treatment for Virginians with disabilities at the Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center.

AAA: Gas prices hold steady, expected to drop through June

Gas prices have remained steady throughout the Mid-Atlantic region since the Memorial Day holiday weekend, even showing some slight declines in some areas. The national average price for regular unleaded gasoline saw a two-cent increase this week to $3.63 Friday. This price is nine cents higher than one month ago and seven cents higher than the same date last year.
