Waynesboro based Vector Industries announced today that it has hired Chrissy Johnston to serve as director of sales and marketing. Johnston brings more than 25 years of experience in sales and marketing to Vector Industries, which employs persons with diverse disabilities and enables them to reach their potential as productive community members.

Gov. Bob McDonnell announced on Thursday that the Commonwealth Transportation Board advanced over $150 million in long-sought transportation improvement projects at its meeting in Richmond yesterday. These projects are being funded as a result of the Governor’s 2011 Transportation Funding and Reform Package.

The Waynesboro Public Library has teamed up with the Waynesboro Rotary Club and the Office on Youth to host a career day. “Get a Job” Job Skills Fair on Thursday, April 25 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Sessions scheduled for the day will help job seekers learn job finding skills.

State posts 6.1 percent revenue decline in March

Gov. Bob McDonnell announced today that March revenue collections decreased by 6.1 percent from March of last year. March is not generally a significant month for revenue collections, and growth rates can be can be distorted due to the timing of the leading edge of final and estimated payments from corporations and individuals which are due April 17 and May 1. On a year-to-date basis, total revenue collections rose 4.4 percent through March, ahead of the annual forecast of 3.6 percent growth.

Tim Kaine joins bipartisan group introducing Troop Talent Act of 2013

Today U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.), Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.) and Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.) introduced the Troop Talent Act of 2013. The bipartisan bill will help ease the transition of servicemembers from active duty to the civilian workforce by improving the alignment of specialty skills acquired in the military with civilian credentials or licenses required for post-service employment.
