Gov. Bob McDonnell announced budget proposals today to expand crisis response and crisis prevention services for Virginia’s behavioral health system. The governor’s proposals would infuse $38.3 million over the biennium into critical mental health and substance-use disorder programs.

The Waynesboro Moose Lodge 1309 hosts a Thanksgiving meal for employees at Vector Industries in Waynesboro each year. The 2013 meal marked the 31st year that the Moose Lodge has done this for Vector employees. The occasion includes a turkey meal with all the fixings and a DJ playing music for employees to have some fun dancing to.

Participants agreed they could benefit greatly if they had more access to better information when making college application and enrollment choices.

Gov. Bob McDonnell announced the formal opening of a representative trade office in Canada focused on increasing agricultural and forestry product exports to the region. Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry Todd Haymore attended the meeting on behalf of the governor.

October revenue collections for state government in Virginia decreased by 5.4 percent from October of last year. October is not a significant month for revenue collections. On a year-to-date basis, total revenue collections rose 0.6 percent through October, trailing the annual forecast of 1.5 percent growth.
