Waynesboro, Staunton and Augusta County are under a Wind Chill Warning through 6 p.m. Tuesday. Wind chills are expected to be between 15 and 20 below zero at times over the next 24 hours, with values at 30 below possible along ridgelines.

The snow blanketing Waynesboro, Staunton and parts of Augusta County Thursday evening is a bit of a surprise. The Waynesboro YMCA year-round competitive swim team, SMAC, (Shenandoah Marlins Aquatic Club) competed at the 52nd annual Pittsburgh Christmas Meet Dec. 13-15. Over 1,500 swimmers attended this very competitive swim meet from teams all across the Mid-Atlantic states. To enter the meet a swimmer needed to have an A time in the event they planned to swim.
