You’ve no doubt seen the Kmart Joe Boxer ad. Male models in tuxes, and boxers, playing a bell choir as if inspired by Elvis Presley. The Waynesboro Family YMCA is riffing off the viral video to promote its Black Friday membership drive. “We were looking for a fun way to get the word out,” said Jeff Fife, the executive director of the Waynesboro Y.
City of Waynesboro to begin leaf collection on Dec. 2

Waynesboro YMCA member Tina Ruszala has been homeschooling her three children for more than five years. As in any homeschool community, the parents involved work together to provide different education and socializing experiences. One thing has been missing among local homeschool families in the Waynesboro area.

First, for those who missed out on what Jumpstart Waynesboro even is, it’s a partnership with the Staunton Creative Community Fund using $20,000 in state grant money to help push creative, sustainable entrepreneurship ideas in our River City.

Don Short is a member of the WSC Local Council and is also active in the Waynesboro Lions Club. He recognized that the Lions Club, which has an outreach focus of improving vision, could be interested in supporting the VPAS Diabetes Self Management (DSMP) program, as diabetes is a risk factor for vision issues.
One more inconvenience: Broad Street bridge in Waynesboro closed on Friday

After more than nine months of work on the bridge on Broad Street over the South River in Waynesboro that disrupted traffic flows on the east side of town, there’s one more inconvenience related to the project on the schedule. The bridge will be closed on Friday from 3-6:30 p.m. for a grand opening ceremony.
History of medicine in Waynesboro subject of Gateway Theatre lecture

Dr. Stephen Howlett will present his research on the history of medicine in Waynesboro at WTA’s Gateway on Thursday, November 21 at 7 pm. Dr. Howlett will trace the changes that have come to medicine in general and specifically to Waynesboro.
