UVa. Center for Politics documentary “Out of Order” earns Emmy nomination

The University of Virginia Center for Politics’ latest documentary, Out of Order, has been nominated for an Emmy Award for Best Topical Documentary. The film, which was produced by the Center for Politics and the Community Idea Stations and directed by Paul Tait Roberts, is a 30-minute documentary about political gridlock in Washington, D.C.

Wayne Theatre Alliance and Hamner Theatre foster new plays

One of the hallmarks of the Earl Hamner Jr. Theatre is its systematic development of new scripts. Although the theatre space in Nellysford was closed last fall, the Hamner has continued its Virginia Playwrights and Screenwriters Initiative (VPSI) under the direction of its Artistic Director Boomie Pedersen and joined with WTA’s Gateway to present a new series of developing scripts.

Richmond Flying Squirrels drop series finale at Altoona

The Richmond Flying Squirrels (17-18) let one slip through their fingertips, dropping the finale of a four-game set, 2-1, to the Altoona Curve on Sunday afternoon at Peoples Natural Gas Field. The Curve plated the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning courtesy of a walk and a defensive error. Altoona also grabbed the series, taking three-of-four from the Squirrels as Richmond’s road record dropped to 5-12.
