Tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 20, the Virginia Department of Transportation will be painting the center lines on Interstate 64 west from mile marker 145 in Louisa County to mile marker 126 in Albemarle County.

Four years after agreeing to pay $3.475 million for 177 acres of scrub brush located off Interstate 64, Waynesboro City Council is only now reluctantly applying for money from the state to help pay for an access road to open up the property.

A portion of Route 854 (Carrsbrook Drive) in Albemarle County will be closed to through traffic for drainage pipe rehabilitation work beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 16.

The extended lane closures at the Route 29-Rio Road grade-separated intersection project have been suspended due to an unforeseen conflict with a utility that has prevented pile-driving operations. For the remainder of this week the overnight closures will revert to the previous 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.schedule.

Beginning tonight the lane closures at the intersection of Route 29 (Seminole Trail) and Rio Road will begin at 8:30 p.m. and will end by 7 a.m. the next morning. T

Overnight lane and off-ramp closures are scheduled for next week at the Interstate 64 interchange at exit 91 (Route 285/Fishersville) in Augusta County. These closures are for milling and paving of the westbound off-ramp. All work is weather permitting.

The Virginia Department of Transportation has scheduled a single-day closure of Route 624 (Lyndhurst Road) in Augusta County on Monday, November 2. This closure is from 7:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for bridge work just north of Route 971 (Lipscomb Road). All work is weather permitting.

The Virginia Department of Transportation is lowering the speed limit to 60 miles an hour on part of Interstate 81 northbound and southbound in Frederick County. This change is in the work zone for the exit 310 interchange modification project. Contractors are installing new speed limit signs this week, and the reduction is scheduled to take effect on the afternoon of Friday, October 23.
