JMU women’s basketball used a 22-4 run over the opening 10 minutes of play to defeat Ohio 56-33 on day one of the JMU Invitational at the JMU Convocation Center Sunday afternoon.

A federal court denied a motion from the Staunton Circuit Court Clerk Monday seeking dismissal of a lawsuit challenging Virginia’s ban on marriage for same-sex couples. The lawsuit, filed earlier this year on behalf of two couples by the American Civil Liberties Union, the ACLU of Virginia, Lambda Legal, and the law firm Jenner and Block, will move forward.

The government shutdown seems like so long ago now. Days after the House voted overwhelmingly to pass a bipartisan budget deal aimed at ending the sequestration process and quashing any talk of another disastrous shutdown, the Senate voted 64-36 to send the budget to President Obama for his signature.
