Sen. Warner signs on as sponsor of FAST Voting Act

U.S. Sen. Mark R. Warner (D-Va) joined Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) in introducing legislation today that will make voting faster and more accessible to all voters. The Fair, Accurate, Secure and Timely (FAST) Voting Act of 2012 creates a competitive grant program to encourage states to aggressively pursue election reforms. It would provide incentives for states like Virginia to invest in practices and technology designed to expedite voting at the polls and simplify voter registration.

Warner in 2013? Senator mum on gubernatorial run

U.S. Sen. Mark Warner didn’t rule out a run for governor in 2013 in an interview with NBC12 in Richmond on Friday. Asked by “First at 4” anchor Ryan Nobles to address speculation that he is considering a run for governor next year, Warner conceded that “it’s no news flash that sometimes the Senate frustrates me.”

Warner, Toomey lead bipartisan effort to protect community banks

U.S. Sens. Mark Warner (D-Va.) and Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) on Thursday led a bipartisan letter to Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. Acting Chairman Marty Gruenberg and Comptroller of the Currency Tom Curry urging financial regulators to consider the impact new Basel III capital standards would have on community banks. The letter is signed by 53 U.S. senators.
