Opening of Shenandoah Valley Small Business Development Center in Augusta County

The Augusta County Economic Development Office announced Thursday the opening of a satellite office of the Shenandoah Valley Small Business Development Center (SV SBDC) located in the Government Center in Verona. The office in Verona will be in addition to the main office in Harrisonburg.

JMU Volunteers Delivered Meals on Wheels

Price Rotary Senior Center hosted three JMU volunteers on Tuesday March 12. The volunteers packaged and delivered meals in the Harrisonburg area. This “Day of Community Service” event was part of the week long inauguration activities for President Jonathan R. Alger. This volunteer effort sent JMU faculty and staff out into the community to volunteer either a half day or full day with local non-profits.

‘Where the Yellowstone Goes’ to serve as kickoff to the Virginia Fly Fishing and Wine Festival

As a kickoff to the 13th annual Virginia Fly Fishing and Wine Festival, the film “Where The Yellowstone Goes,” a feature documentary film from award-winning filmmaker Hunter Weeks, will be shown at the Court Square Theatre in Harrisonburg, VA on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 7:30 pm. Proceeds from this showing will go to help fund the operations of the Virginia Fly Fishing and Wine Festival and its foundation conservation efforts.

JMU professor/filmmaker brings documentary to national PBS audience

Emmy-award winning writer/director and James Madison University professor Thomas O’Connor’s latest film, Dangerous Edge: A Life of Graham Greene, is set for its North American premiere on Friday, March 29, at 10:30 pm on WVPT and PBS stations across the country. The film captures the enigmatic life of British author Graham Greene. British actor Sir Derek Jacobi is the film’s narrator. Actor Bill Nighy (Love Actually, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) provides the voice of the author.
