Broadway-Timberville Chamber Board votes to align with HR Chamber

hrchamberlogo2The Board of Directors of the Broadway-Timberville Chamber of Commerce has voted to align with the larger Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce “in order to provide greater benefits and value to our current members and business community” according to Randy Andes, chairman.

“The Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce has some programs and member benefits that we just can’t duplicate because of our size and we think this is a logical step in helping our local businesses grow,” Andes said.

The HRCC has nearly 850 members while the BTCC has 48 members. According to HRCC officials, 22 are currently members of both organizations. Current BTCC members are eligible to become HRCC members as part of the transition plan according to Frank Tamberrino, President of the Chamber. The Chamber will establish a local Business Council, similar to the structure used in Bridgewater-Dayton and in east Rockingham County, for continuity of membership meetings and information exchange on a monthly basis.

“Our Chamber welcomes the BTCC members into our organization and we hope to have a greater presence in the Broadway and Timberville communities as a result of this move” said Hobey Bauhan, HRCC Chairman. “The ability to connect local businesses with the larger network of businesses throughout our service territory was a key selling point in the decision making process.”

The HRCC is a multi-faceted business organization established in 1917. The Chamber promotes a positive business climate for the Harrisonburg metropolitan area, provides business networking opportunities, offers community leadership programs and works closely with public officials on economic and business competitive issues.
