Attorney General-elect Mark Herring announces senior staff

Attorney General-elect Mark Herring today announced the appointment of two more senior officials in the Office of Attorney General. Herring will be sworn in as Virginia’s 48th Attorney General on Jan. 11. Stuart Raphael, currently a partner with the Litigation Team of Hunton & Williams LLP, will serve as Virginia’s Solicitor General.

McAuliffe nominates Maurice Jones as Secretary of Commerce and Trade

Gov.-elect Terry McAuliffe announced at a press conference on Thursday the nomination of Secretary Maurice Jones as Secretary of Commerce and Trade. Jones, a Kenbridge native, is the former president of the Pilot Media Group, and currently serves as deputy secretary of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.

William and Mary basketball falls to West Virginia, 82-45

The William and Mary men’s basketball team suffered an 82-45 setback to Big 12 foe West Virginia at the Charleston Civic Center on Sunday afternoon. W&M scored the game’s opening four points and led early, but the Mountaineers claimed the victory behind 49.2 percent shooting from the field and a decisive advantage on the glass (47-31).

Cynthia Hudson named chief deputy attorney general of Virginia

Attorney General-elect Mark Herring today announced Cynthia E. Hudson will serve as his Chief Deputy Attorney General. In this new role Hudson will oversee the day-to-day legal operations of the Attorney General’s office and work with Attorney General Herring to provide top-level professional legal services to the Commonwealth and all Virginians.
