Holiday Hoops Classic raises over 100 tons of food for Virginia’s food banks

Gov. Bob McDonnell announced the winner of the food and fund drive held in conjunction with the Governor’s Holiday Hoops Classic taking place this afternoon and evening at the Richmond Coliseum. A month-long food drive on the campuses of the four participating Virginia universities raised over 100 tons of food for food banks throughout the Commonwealth.

McAuliffe announces Haymore, Ward for Cabinet posts

The Concise Dickens’ Christmas Carol at the Gateway in Waynesboro

The Wayne Theatre Alliance’s Gateway will bring The Concise Dickens’ Christmas Carol as part of WTA’s holiday entertainment. The seasonal favorite of Hampton Roads’ audiences will be presented on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Advanced tickets for The Concise Dickens’ Christmas Carol are available for $5 for children under 12 and $10 for adults.

McDonnell announces major step forward in widening I-64 from Richmond to Newport News

Gov. Bob McDonnell announced today a significant development to ease congestion and increase safety on I-64 in the Hampton Roads and Richmond regions. The Federal Highway Administration has signed the Final Environmental Impact Statement, which supports the future widening of 75 miles of I-64 from I-95 in Richmond to I-664 in Hampton.

FMS (9-1) swept three games at the Nov. 15-17 Kiski School National Prep Tourney and two games at the Nov. 22-23 NERR Prep Showcase, including a 74-69 overtime win over #6 New Hampton on Nov. 23.

Anthony Harris highlights four UVa. football All-ACC honorees

Virginia football player Anthony Harris was named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) football first team, announced by the league on Monday. Running back Kevin Parks was named to the second team, offensive tackle Morgan Moses was named to the third team and defensive tackle Brent Urban was an honorable mention selection.
