Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library to display Kushnir art of Shenandoah Valley

The Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum announces a special event featuring celebrated landscape painter Andrei Kushnir.

The event, “Painting en Plein Air in the Shenandoah Valley,” will be held February 24, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Library and Archives Building, 235 E. Beverley St., Staunton.

Kushnir, widely recognized for his naturalistic and realist style, has spent decades capturing the breathtaking scenery of the Shenandoah Valley. His en plein air approach allows him to immerse himself in the landscapes he paints, preserving their beauty and historical significance. His book, “Oh, Shenandoah: Paintings of the Historic Valley and River,” showcases his deep dedication to the region and its cultural heritage.

His work has been featured in prominent solo exhibitions at institutions such as the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley and the Virginia Museum of History & Culture. Kushnir will share his artistic journey, his passion for the Shenandoah Valley and the stories behind his stunning paintings.

The event is open to the public, and participants may attend either in person or virtually via Zoom. Advance registration is required online.

The Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum will also host an exhibit of Kushnir’s work from March 1 to April 27. Visitors may access the exhibit with the purchase of a museum admission ticket. Signed copies of “Oh, Shenandoah: Paintings of the Historic Valley and River” and “The Shenandoah Valley’s Interstates: Plein Air Paintings along I-81, I-66, and I-64” will also be available for purchase in the museum’s gift shop.

In downtown Staunton, the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum offers a unique opportunity to explore the life and legacy of the 28th President of the United States. From thought-provoking exhibits to engaging educational programs, the museum invites visitors to connect with history in a meaningful way.
