Boston College never trailed on its way to a 72-57 win over Virginia in the teams’ ACC opener on Sunday at JPJ.

The loss drops the ‘Hoos to a 6-5 mark on the season, and third-year coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton acknowledged that her program is “in some adversity right now.”

“We’ve got to get our confidence back,” said Agugua-Hamilton, now 37-36 in her tenure at UVA, after posting a 74-15 mark in three seasons at Missouri State, from 2019-2022.

“We’ve got to get back on the same page, get some people healthy. Can’t keep turning the ball over the way we are, we have to value that. Obviously, didn’t shoot it well from the three or the free throw line, and that was the difference in the game,” Agugua-Hamilton said.

Virginia shot 41.2 percent (21-of-51), but was just 2-of-23 from three, and 13-of-20 at the line.

Latasha Lattimore had 23 points on 10-of-12 shooting and nine rebounds for the Cavaliers, and point guard Kymora Johnson had 11 points (5-of-10 FG), four assists and three rebounds.

The problem: their teammates made only six of their 29 shots on the day.

T’yana Todd led BC (7-4, 1-0 ACC) with 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the floor, and 5-of-8 shooting from three.
