Waynesboro Generals nip Winchester Royals, 5-4

wb-winchester3Will Lowman pitched four scoreless innings out of the bullpen, lifting the Waynesboro Generals to a 5-4 win over the Winchester Royals at Kate Collins Field Saturday night.

Lowman (1-3) struck out six, walked two and didn’t give up a hit in his relief effort. Starting pitcher Griffin Krieg gave up four runs on six hits in five innings of work.

The Generals (21-15) got two hits each from Eugene Vasquez and Garrett Russini, and Mike McClellan had two RBI and two runs scored.

Jerry Downs hit his fourth homer of the season for Winchester (14-22).

Waynesboro is back in action Sunday at Charles Town (20-15), which is a half-game behind the Generals in the Valley League standings.
