UVA women’s basketball schedule for 2015-2016 released

uva womens basketballThe Atlantic Coast Conference announced today (Sept. 16) its women’s basketball schedule for the 2015-16 season. Virginia will face each of its 14 conference opponents during the 16-game league schedule. The Cavaliers will play six opponents solely at home, six only on the road and two opponents, Virginia Tech and Louisville, in home-and-away series.

Miami, Notre Dame, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, Clemson and North Carolina will play atJohn Paul Jones Arena.

Virginia will travel to Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Florida State, NC State, Duke, Boston College, Louisville and Virginia Tech.

Additionally, Virginia will play eight non-conference home games, including two in the annual Cavalier Classic Tournament, presented by Holiday Inn University Area, Dec. 28-29 at John Paul Jones Arena. This season, the tournament features Richmond, Lafayette and Coppin State.

On Tuesday, Dec. 8, the Cavaliers will take on Bowling Green with a special 11 a.m. tip time for Field Trip Day at JPJ, an initiative held in conjunction with local elementary and middle schools.

Virginia also hosts Iowa on Dec. 2 as part of the 2015 Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

The Cavaliers will open the season on the road, playing at Middle Tennessee State on Friday, Nov. 13.

UVa’s road schedule features the Paradise Jam Thanksgiving tournament in the U.S. Virgin Islands that will include games against Green Bay, Rutgers and Tulane. The Cavaliers will also play at Auburn and at Ohio State.

The schedule features six regular-season games that will be broadcast on television. Virginia’s road contest at Boston College as well as home games against Miami, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Clemson and North Carolina will air on the ACC Regional Sports Networks.

 

Team Highlights

Virginia returns seven letterwinners, including 2015 All-ACC honoree Faith Randolph (Derwood, Md.) and ACC All-Freshman Team member Mikayla Venson (Arlington, Va.), from last year’s team. The Cavaliers are joined by three talented freshman post players, Debra Ferguson (Amherst County, Va./Amherst County High), Moné Jones (Durham, N.C./Riverside High) and Shakyna Payne (Acworth, Ga./Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy) and a transfer redshirt sophomore guard, J’Kyra Brown (Rocky Mount, N.C./East Carolina).

 

Season Ticket Information

All lower level seats in John Paul Jones Arena are reserved for women’s basketball games with the exception of the bleacher seats (sections 116-119) and section 108. Reserved season tickets are $100, while reserved season tickets for youth, seniors, and UVa faculty and staff are $75.

General admission season tickets are $85, $65 for youth, seniors, and UVa faculty and staff. General admission seating is available in sections 108, 116-119, and in any upper level section.

All courtside season tickets are $150 for the women’s basketball season.

Women’s basketball season ticket holders receive numerous benefits for the 2015-16 season, including savings of up to 56 percent off single-game ticket prices. In addition, all season ticket holders receive a reserved parking permit for parking in the John Paul Jones Arena lot and are eligible to win prizes through an attendance rewards program. Season ticket holders will also have an opportunity to attend an open practice (date to be determined).

 

Health System Hoos Ticket Information

Health System Hoos season tickets are available to be purchased by UVA Health System staff. Seating for Health System Hoos members will be in reserved seats in sections 105, 106, 107, 109, 110 and 111. UVA Health System employees interested in purchasing Health System Hoos season tickets should contact the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office.
