The UVa. football team will hold its annual Orange-Blue Spring Game on Saturday, April 12 at Scott Stadium. The gates open at 11 a.m. for pregame activities and the spring game is slated to begin at 1 p.m.Admission and parking are free.
In addition to the Orange-Blue Spring Football Game, UVa’s annual Shoot Out for Cancer event will be held Saturday at Scott Stadium. On-field activities for kids will take place between 11 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. and include a 40-yard dash, target toss, field goal kick skills contest and the opportunity for fans to run out of the tunnel at Scott Stadium. Additional activities on the stadium’s north concourse include a photo booth, face painting, balloon artists and corn hole games.
The Shoot Out for Cancer activities are sponsored by the athletics department’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and theStudent-Athlete Mentors. The event benefits the University of Virginia Cancer Center for research on blood related cancer therapies. This year marks the 21st time the activity has been held and the first time its been held in conjunction with the Orange-Blue Spring Football Game.
Promotional tables will be set up inside the stadium’s East and West Gates. Fans will have an opportunity to pick-up the 2014 football poster, schedule magnet and a roster/autograph card. Raffle tickets will also be available for fans at each promotional table. Raffle prizes include footballs signed by the coaching staff and the team, single-game tickets to each of the Cavaliers’ 2014 home games, and a pair of 2014 Virginia football season tickets.
A Select-A-Seat event will be held in conjunction with the Orange-Blue Spring Game Fans may visit the CavForce sales booths outside of Sections 106 and 124 for information on 2014 Virginia football season tickets. Seats in both the lower and upper levels will be tagged and new buyers will have the opportunity to select their 2014 seat locations starting at 11 a.m.
The UVa athletics equipment staff will once again be selling authentic game-worn football jerseys and helmets prior to the spring game. Helmets will be available for $150 and jerseys will sell for $50. Cheer uniforms are $35 and pom poms are $10. All jerseys and helmets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Methods of payment include cash and credit cards (no checks). Autographed NFL helmets by Chris Canty and Heath Miller will also be raffled off before the spring game. Raffle tickets are $5 for one and $10 for three. The jersey/helmet sale will take place behind the scoreboard at the open end of Scott Stadium and begins at 11 a.m. when gates at Scott Stadium open.
Concession stands and the Cavalier Team Shop merchandise locations inside the east and west gate at Scott Stadium locations will be open.
The 2014 spring award winners will be announced at halftime of the scrimmage. After the scrimmage the team will hold a 30-minute autograph session for fans on the field.
