Superhero Night and Paint the Park Purple highlight Hillcats homestand

lynchburg hillcatsAfter not completing the final two contests of a week-long road trip due to rain, the Lynchburg Hillcats are excited to return to action at City Stadium for the first of seven straight home games on Thursday, May 1. Fans should be equally as excited to come to City Stadium, as the homestand will feature a number of popular promotions to kick off the month of May.

Thursday night will begin a four-game series against the Salem Red Sox at 6:05pm and also serve as Superhero Night presented by Untamed Worlds. As part of the third Theme Thursday of 2014, fans who dress like a superhero or wear superhero apparel will receive $5 admission. It’s also a Thursday Cheers with a live pregame performance by the Maplewaves and $2 drink specials presented by Miller Lite, Yuengling & 97.9 FM The Planet.

On Friday, May 2, the stadium will turn purple with the 3rd Annual Paint the Park Purple Night presented by Gastroenterology Associates of Central Virginia, Relay for Life and The American Cancer Society. The first 1,000 fans to enter when the gates open at 5pm will receive a free commemorative purple t-shirt and GA tickets will be $10 at the gate. A portion of every ticket sold as well as sponsor donations will benefit the American Cancer Society. Fans can visit the team’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/LynchburgHillcats for a printable coupon good for $5 admission.

The home series continues with Kentucky Derby Night at 6:05pm on Saturday, May 3. Fans wearing a fancy hat, bow tie or seersucker apparel will be admitted for $5. All fans in attendance can stay through the game and enjoy the Hillcats’ second postgame fireworks show of the season presented by Virginia Lottery.

Lynchburg’s four-game set with the Red Sox concludes with Sunday’s 2:05 pm tilt, where the first 1,000 fans will receive a free 2014 Team Photo courtesy of Lynchburg Camera Shop and WYYD. There will also be select players signing autographs in the concourse area from 1-1:30 pm, and kids can run the bases afterward thanks to Uncle Bob’s Self Storage.

The homestand will wrap up with three games against the Carolina Mudcats, beginning with a Dollar Menu Monday presented by ABC 13 on May 5. Hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, peanuts, candy & Domino’s Pizza slices will only cost $1 each through the 7th inning of the 6:05 pm contest.

Tuesday, May 6 will raise awareness and funds for Presbyterian Homes & Family Services and The Family Alliance as part of ‘Cats with a Cause Night. It’s also a Two for Tuesday where General Admission tickets are buy one, get one free presented by ABC 13! Plus, members of Southpaw’s Kids Club presented by Fox’s Pizza Den can run the bases after the game.

The extensive promotional slate will end with a WLNI Win-Win Wednesday. Fans who purchase a ticket to the 6:05pm game against the Mudcats on May 7 will receive a free ticket to the next Wednesday home game on May 28.
