Staunton man faces murder charge in Wednesday stabbing death

A Staunton man has been charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of another man Wednesday afternoon.

Daniel D. Mead, 33, was taken into custody at the scene of the murder, in the 1700 block of Springhill Road, which was reported around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Bradley A. Maurice, 28, of Staunton was transported from the scene to Augusta Health with life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced deceased at Augusta Health at approximately 2:58 p.m.

Mead is being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail. The investigation remains ongoing.
