A Virginia man is dead following an accident on Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 95 in Prince William County.

Vernon S. Lee II, 57, of Chester, died at the scene, according to Virginia State Police.

The fatal accident occurred at 2:39 p.m. in the express lanes on I-95 at the 151 mile marker.

Lee had stopped on the right shoulder when his vehicle was stuck by a Ford-250 that had veered off the right side of the road. The impact caused Lee’s vehicle to hit the guardrail and then back into travel lanes where it stopped facing traffic.

A passenger in Lee’s vehicle, Shannon S. Lee, 25, suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital.  She was also wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the Ford F-250, Jeremy S. Kubela, 43, of Fredericksburg, was not injured. He has been charged with reckless driving.

The crash remains under investigation.
