On Tuesday, February 16, U.S. Sen. Mark Warner will kick off five days of travel throughout the Commonwealth for a series of meetings and discussions where he will share his ideas to strengthen and diversify Virginia’s economy. Sen. Warner will hold conversations with college students, community and business leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs.
On Tuesday, Sen. Warner will meet with technology leaders and entrepreneurs in Northern Virginia to discuss emerging opportunities in cybersecurity and the growth of the on-demand economy.
On Wednesday, February 17, Sen. Warner will begin the day in the Shenandoah Valley, where he will join the Top of Virginia Regional Chamber for a public policy breakfast in Winchester. Later in the day, he will make stops at two Virginia college campuses, James Madison University in Harrisonburg (where he will be joined by Mayor Chris Jones) and the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, to hold student town hall discussions about student debt and building a 21st century Virginia economy.
On Thursday, February 18, Sen. Warner will hold a roundtable discussion with community leaders in Lynchburg and join students at Longwood University for a town hall before heading to Petersburg for a meeting with Main Street business leaders.
On Friday, February 19, Sen. Warner will be in Hampton Roads for a discussion with local business, industry and government leaders, including Virginia Secretary of Technology Karen Jackson, on diversifying the region’s economy and growing the cybersecurity sector across the region. The discussion will take place at the headquarters of Zel Technologies, a small, minority and veteran-owned business. In the afternoon, Sen. Warner and Rep. Bobby Scott (D-VA) will host a happy hour with African-American community leaders in Richmond.
On Saturday evening, Sen. Warner will attend a political event in Richmond.
