Sen. Mark Warner has issued a statement supporting Sam Rasoul’s candidacy for the House of Delegates. This announcement comes as Rasoul unveils the major focus of his first term, working to bridge the gap between educators and the business community so to help grow businesses in the Roanoke Valley.

Sam-RasoulSen. Warner said, “I am proud to endorse Sam Rasoul for the House of Delegates 11th District. I worked with Sam in 2008 and was impressed with his work ethic and business background. His experience in finding consensus with people from various backgrounds will make him a valuable asset in Richmond, representing the citizens of Roanoke. Vote Sam Rasoul on January 7, 2014.”

Rasoul said, “I am humbled by Sen. Warner’s endorsement and I look forward to serving in Richmond to help grow our economy in the Roanoke Valley. Something I am very passionate about is bridging the gap between our schools and the needs of the business community.”

Rasoul continued, “As Delegate, I want to do more to empower our educators to be able to implement programs that provide job-ready skills upon graduation. This way our businesses can hire local students who are ready to start their career after high school or community college.”

Sam Rasoul was raised in Roanoke. He comes from a family of small business owners and owns a local business himself. Sam has spent the last decade working in non-profit healthcare. Sam and his wife, Layaly, have three children.
