A mother and grandmother are pleading for help in locating two young children from Rockingham County taken by their father in April and not seen since.

“We have no idea where he is,” said Pamela Barger, the grandmother, who reached out to me regarding the disappearance of Brady Jon Orlando, 37, of Bluffton, S.C., who, according to court documents, decided earlier this year to cut off communication with his ex-wife, Renee Orlando, of Broadway, and deny court-approved visitation for Renee with their two children, Madison, 6, and Brianna, 4.

More information on the case

After the court order regarding visitation was approved on April 5, Brady Orlando sent his ex-wife “disturbing messages regarding his decision that Mother should have no contact” with the children, according to court documents.

He withdrew Madison from school, moved out of his home, listed it for sale in May, and the home was sold in July, according to the court documents.

This was all cited in an updated court order, filed on Aug. 6, granting Renee Orlando sole legal custody of Brianna – the custody matter involving Madison is in the South Carolina court system.

Three months would pass before an arrest warrant would be approved by a judge for Brady Orlando.

That was done on Nov. 19, according to court documents.

We’ve reached out to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office to try to learn more about whatever investigation into the matter may be ongoing.

“The issue is, the courts won’t call it a kidnapping because he is the father,” Barger said. “No one has even looked other than my daughter, their mother. The police won’t unless they have an order. The judge issues an order, and then we wait and wait for the judge to sign. I’m sorry, but I just feel like if it were one of their children, things would move faster. We have information that shows he could be dangerous. Even with that being known, they still have dragged their feet. I just don’t understand.”
