River City Radio Hour debuts on WSVA on Sept. 29

Chris Graham

It seems like a given. The River City Radio Hour has always been on the radio. Right?

“We’re excited that the radio show is finally going to be on the radio. It’s taken seven years,” said Richard Adams, the music director for the Radio Hour, which will make its over-the-air debut on WSVA-550AM in Harrisonburg on Sunday at 10 a.m.

Adams has been along the ride from Show #1. It’s been a goal of creator Clair Myers, the executive director of the Wayne Theatre Alliance, all along to have the show on the radio.

“We finally found a way,” said Myers, who also serves as the announcer on the performances of the Radio Hour at the Gateway Theatre in Downtown Waynesboro.

The premiere of the Radio Hour on WSVA dovetails with big news regarding the Wayne Theatre, according to Bill Hausrath, the chairman of the Wayne Theatre Alliance Board of Directors.

“This ties so well with the planned opening of the Wayne Theatre in December 2014. We look forward to an increased broadcasting circle as more folks get a chance to listen to and/or attend live performances of the River City Radio Hour,” Hausrath said.
