Richmond: Pedestrian dead after being struck by tow truck on Interstate 95 on Christmas

A 25-year-old Richmond man is dead after being struck by a tow truck on Interstate 95 on Christmas.

Cornell West was transported to VCU Medical Center where he was pronounced dead upon arrival, according to Virginia State Police.

West was in the northbound lane when he was struck. According to police, he was not in a vehicle at the time of the incident.

The fatal pedestrian crash occurred at the 75.8 mile marker at approximately 9 p.m.

The driver of the tow truck remained on the scene.

The crash is under investigation, according to VSP.
