richmond-squirrelsRichmond Flying Squirrels Charities, a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization, in conjunction with the City of Richmond is proud to announce that phase one of the Renovating Richmond’s Recreation Program has begun.

Eight dugouts have already been constructed and completed at four Richmond youth baseball fields as part of a 16 field renovation project within the city.  The initial dugouts have been completed at the Hotchkiss & Westover park facilities. The Squirrels have worked closely with the City of Richmond, Hardesty Roofing and Liberty Roofing Center to facilitate the first phase of the project with funds being raised throughout the year through Flying Squirrels Charities.

“Thanks to all of our great fans who support Flying Squirrels Charities and particularly the ‘Smooch A Pig’ candidates who helped us raise funds for these eight dugouts,” said Flying Squirrels Chief Executive Chuck Domino. “Also a very special thanks to Hardesty Roofing and Liberty Roofing Center for providing labor and materials to enable us to maximize the number of dugouts in this first phase of Renovating Richmond’s Recreation to benefit the youth in the City of Richmond.”

The Renovating Richmond’s Recreation program is a dedicated community project to benefit the youth in the city of Richmond.

“Since our inception, community impact has been at our very core,” said Flying Squirrels VP & COO Todd “Parney” Parnell. “These beautiful and functional dugouts for the youth in the city of Richmond are tangible proof of that commitment to the community.”

The Flying Squirrels will host the inaugural Field of Dreams Music and Beer Festival on Friday, October 2nd at The Diamond. The festival is being held in conjunction with RIR and Barton Malow and includes live music and beer tasting from local breweries with proceeds benefiting the Renovating Richmond’s Recreation Program.
