Loudoun County: 13-year old girl dies one day after sustaining injuries in scooter crash

A 13-year-old girl has died, succumbing to injuries sustained while attempting to cross an intersection on a scooter in Loudoun County.

The crash occurred on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Nokes Boulevard and City Center Boulevard in Sterling, according to Virginia State Police.

The juvenile was transported to a nearby hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries and died today.

The driver was traveling westbound on Nokes Boulevard in the left lane and stopped as soon as the incident occurred.

The crash did not occur in a crosswalk, and the victim was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation. The driver of the vehicle will not face any charges, according to police.
