Juvenile in custody after brandishing pellet gun before Monticello football game

A juvenile was taken into custody after brandishing a pellet gun before the Monticello High School football game tonight.

Albemarle County Police officers responded to a disorder in the area of Mill Creek Drive and Independence Way, near a parking lot at MHS, at 6:47 p.m.

The individual was taken into custody without incident. The juvenile has been charged with felony brandishing and is currently being held at the Blue Ridge Juvenile Detention Center.

No injuries were reported.

According to police, this was an isolated situation, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Monticello High School hosted a football game against Fluvanna County tonight at 7. It was also homecoming at MHS.

The investigation into this incident remains ongoing.
