The Waynesboro School Board has named a new principal at William Perry Elementary School, and it is someone that parents and students already know.
Dr. Michelle Shifflett, the current assistant principal, was appointed to the top job at a called meeting of the board. She will assume her duties on July 1, the school system announced this week.
She has worked with Waynesboro schools for years: as an instructional aide, second and third grade teacher and a reading specialist. She took the assistant principal job at William Perry two years ago.
“Dr. Shiflett is a collaborative, servant leader who has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the students, staff and families of William Perry Elementary School,” said Dr. Jeffrey Cassell, Waynesboro schools superintendent. “Her knowledge of the school community, instructional expertise and strong leadership skills position her well to continue advancing academic excellence and supporting the social and emotional growth of our students.”
