Join the fight against childhood hunger

The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank is taking part in a virtual food drive aimed at fighting childhood hunger.
Dollars donated online through the U-Pack A BackPack initiative will go to fight hunger locally – because donations made via www.U-PackABackPack.org are tracked by zip code, meaning local contributions remain within the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank Network.
“All local contributions will help the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank Network feed local children and their families,” Blue Ridge Food Bank Network president and CEO Marty White said. “So we’re going to be encouraging community involvement in the U-Pack A BackPack initiative throughout the school year.
“We’re able to provide up to eight meals for every dollar donation we receive,” White said. “So while traditional food drives will always be a great resource for feeding the hungry, they aren’t as efficient as this virtual cousin. The virtual nature of this initiative actually assures the highest impact in the fight against childhood hunger.”
More information on the local food bank is available at www.brafb.org.
